3.EVERYDAY CLEANING

TOOLS
FOR MANUAL CLEANING FOR CLEANING OF LARGE SURFACES
broom, buckets, large broom, rough floor cloth, Scotch-Brite sponge “wet and dry” machine with red disk, vacuum cleaner with soft nylon brush

If the proper post-laying cleaning procedures have been followed, ordinary cleaning, that is to say the everyday removal of dirt caused by the general use of the tiled surface, will not be a problem.
CORRECT CLEANING is simply done using a rough cloth or damp sponge or microfiber cloth with a diluted solution of everyday tile detergent, such as FILA CLEANER, following the manufacturer’s directions

PLEASE NOTE:
Make sure to avoid:
1. Products with waxing, reviving, polishing and shining characteristics;
2. Products that contain hydrochloric acid or its derivatives;
3. Metal scouring pads (pads made from steel or wire wool) or other material that is excessively abrasive.

3.1 METHOD FOR EVERYDAY CLEANING RECOMMENDED QUANITY AND PERCENTAGE FOR THE DILUTION OF FILA CLEANER

PRESENCE OF INSERTS AND/OR NATURAL MARBLE OR METALLIC DECORSSMOOTH/MATT SURFACE
1/2 coffee cup in 5 litres of water

Atlas Concorde recommends

DAILY to:

Make sure that all dust has been removed using a broom, wool cloth or vacuum cleaner, depending which is deemed most appropriate;

Wash using a neutral low-residue detergent, for example FILA CLEANER, in a ratio of 1:200 (that is to say ½ a small cup of coffee in a bucket of 5 litres of water) using a damp cloth or microfiber cloth that should be rinsed out often in the solution and wrung out well;

PLEASE NOTE:
Should, after any cleaning procedure, the floor show signs of the cloth having be passed over it, wash the cloth in clean water, rinsing it often and wringing it out well. Never dilute more than the recommend amount of detergent in the water unless the floor is particularly dirty and you expect to rinse the floor again once the washing procedure has been completed.

For the everyday cleaning of vertical surfaces we recommend the use of a ready-to-use detergent, such as FILA BRIO. Spray the product directly onto the surface, holding the bottle vertically and around 20-30cm from the surface, and proceed to clean using a dry microfiber cloth.

PERIODICALLY:
Carrying out a de-greasing cleaning using an alkaline-based detergent, such as FILA PS/87, in a ratio of 1:20 in water (if possible warm water, as this increase the efficiency) using a rough floor cloth or microfiber cloth, before proceeding to rinsing the floor thoroughly. In case that a descaling cleaning proves more effective, use an acid-based detergent of the kind FILA DETERDEK, in a ratio of 1:10 in water (possibly hot as it increases the effectiveness of the product), using a rough floor cloth or microfiber cloth, before proceeding to rinsing the floor thoroughly.

PLEASE NOTE:
Should there be any areas not completely cleaned, repeat the degreasing and/or descaling cleaning using a stronger mixture of the diluted solution. The person assigned this task must always undertake a preliminary check on a small section of the surface.

For  large surfaces we recommend the use of a pressure washer cleaning brush with red disk and medium to hard nylon bristles and ‘wet and dry’ vacuum cleaner as well as a neutral detergent, such as FILA CLEANER, diluted in a ratio of 1:200.

For the cleaning of vertical surfaces we recommend the use of a neutral detergent, such as FILA BRIO. Spray the product directly onto the surface, holding the bottle vertically and around 20-30cm from the surface, and proceed to clean using a dry microfiber cloth.

3.1. REMOVAL OF GLOSSY PATINA

Satin ceramic surfaces (matt), if cleaned using detergents that contain wax and additives, can show a glossy patina or rims of various nature. Food and drinks such as water and wine, when falling on the floor, remove the glossy patina and create opaque areas that can seem dirty. Actually, these areas are the only clean part of the surface as the only ones showing the original matt effect of the floor.

In these circumstances, Atlas Concorde recommends:

Completely eliminating the glossy patina on the tiled surface, carrying out a “degreasing washing” using an alkaline detergent such as FILA PS/87, followed by thorough rinsing;

Using, for the ordinary maintenance of the floor, neutral detergents that do not contain wax or polishing additives.

In some specific conditions of use (associated with the kind of detergent used and/or to the staining afents that come in contact with the ceramic material) and also due to environmental factors (such as wet areas with inorganic residue like limestone), it is preferable to carry out a “descaling washing” with an acid detergent of the kind FILA DETERDEK, followed by thorough rinsing.
