Architecture as connection

Founded in 2007, Oneworks is an international consultancy firm that integrates architecture, design and engineering to develop projects that generate lasting value. Active in the sectors of real estate, mixed-use developments, public spaces and transport infrastructure, Oneworks contributes to the transformation and competitiveness of cities and regions.

The collaboration with Atlas Concorde stems from a shared exploration of the potential of ceramics as an active element of architecture. Through the development of 3D parametric surfaces applied to the building envelope, Oneworks interprets porcelain stoneware not merely as a cladding material, but as a design system capable of modulating light, engaging with the building’s identity and contributing to environmental comfort. In the C70 Office Complex and Serafico Residential District projects in Rome, this vision takes shape in different solutions. In the former, diamond-cut ceramics reinterpret the modular geometries of the building’s volume: their faceted surface fragments the light, lightening the monumentality of the façade and fostering a subtle, almost ephemeral visual transition that allows the building to integrate and blend with its surroundings; in the residential complex on Via del Serafico, the vertical elements, in light-coloured, three-dimensional glazed porcelain stoneware, capture the sunlight, generating a chiaroscuro effect that changes continuously throughout the day. The building’s envelope thus takes on a lively, iridescent appearance, transforming the ceramic cladding into the project’s true defining feature.

The result is a narrative in which material, form and technology work together to forge new relationships between the building, the urban space and the environment. An evolved vision of the ceramic surface, no longer merely a cladding but a high-performance design element, capable of contributing to the building’s identity and the quality of contemporary architecture.
